To the Luster family, there are no words that can express the depth of my sorrow for your loss. I met Curtis in the late 90's, when we worked at NCI together. As we worked different shifts, we shared a desk and our friendship was forged. For a short time we went in different directions. I went to TWC and eventually, Curtis 'followed'. For a while he worked on the other side of the wall in a different department, but eventually joined my team, much to everyone's delight. Curtis was my rock when I needed one. No one ever heard him utter a negative or judgmental statement. He always had a smile on his face, an infectious laugh, and gave the best hugs. He would often sing to me just for fun, but always on my birthday, going down on one knee for dramatic effect! While working at TWC, he rode the bus as he didn't have a car. I would pick him up on his way to the bus if I saw him and drive him home, and we would sit in the car at the curb and have long, inspiring conversations. We spent a lot of time in my office doing the same. You should know that he spoke of you often, and loved you deeply. He would also remember his sister with great emotion. Upon returning from the Bahama cruise, he took great joy in sharing the photos with me, and brought me a magnet as a remembrance that I will always treasure. When my father died in July of 2011, Curtis sang Amazing Grace at his funeral - he preached it as much as sang it - and my entire family will always be grateful for that. I attended his Homegoing Service yesterday, and brought with me the love of a long list of his friends who were unable to attend. I am heartbroken at his departure, even though I know how indescribably happy he is right now. I have to believe that Curtis has lessons to teach us in 'death', as he did in life here on earth. I feel him as an angel on my shoulder, and every day I am trying to become a better person in his honor. I know that when someone leaves us and we are crying, there are those rejoicing on the other side. The question is how to fill the void that is left, and in Curtis' case, this is no small task. Curtis is someone I don't think I will ever recover from losing. My prayers are with you all every day, that you may find the peace he wants you to have. With love, Gayle, aka 'Birdie', his nickname for me :)

My condolences to the family of this beautiful person. He shined everywhere he was. I remember first hearing him at NCI where he stood up and sang Happy Birthday to a co-worker, it was the prettiest rendition of Happy Birthday I had ever heard. Did not speak much to him there but, then saw him again at Calvary's love and spoke to him in Spanish seeing his eyes light up. He was so excited to have someone to speak to in the language he studied. My kids would call him "Mr. Brown." What a great person, his life should be celebrated for many years to come. God Bless his parents and family.

I will think of you often, and I will always think....WOW! May I follow your lead and grow closer to our Lord through your example. Thank you for being you, most unique and special you. It was always a pleasure to be in your company, to dance with you, and to laugh with you. Keeping you alive in my heart and memory, until we meet again. And then, may we dance again? To the Luster family, sending u my deepest condolences on such a great loss of a great man, your son and brother, and my dear friend, Curtis. I knew Curtis when he lived in the Binghamton area, and we danced Salsa together. Curtis was, and will remain in my memory, one of the finest men i have ever known. How blessed we are to have known him and to have loved him. My last interaction w him went something like this: Curtis sent a Facebook msg saying that he was going to study to be a minister. I was very excited for him, so i wrote back something like: "Curtis i am thrilled to hear this! You will bring even more glory to God than you already have! Fantastic news!!" And in a few moments he wrote back: "pam, you almost brought a tear to my eye reading your comment. Thank u for always being in my corner." And i wrote: " i am always in your corner!!!! So proud of you!"
While i wasnt his longest friend, nor his closest friend, he was very, very dear to me. Thank you Mr and Mrs Luster for giving us such a beautiful person to know and love. I truly believe that every single one who knew him, loved him. May he guide you through this life, and this time of mourning, until you are reunited in heaven. I believe that Curtis, did, indeed, bring glory to God. As His faithful servant, Curtis has been called to rejoice in God's everlasting bliss. May u find some comfort and peace in these words. God bless your family.

Luster family, I had the pleasure of working with Curtis at TWC in Vestal. Hearing of his passing was devastating to say the very least. He was truly a one of kind human being, and I loved his smile, his spirit & his faith! I could always count on him for words of encouragement & a smile like no other. I am so deeply sorry for the pain you all must be going through. His time here with us was very short, but he made a lifetime impact on so many with his heart of gold and unwavering faith in God! Please find comfort in the memories you have of such a wonderful man. God bless you all.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Brother Curtis Luster. As you journey through this time of mourning, may you be reminded that the dead in Christ shall rise first and those who remain will be caught up to meet Him in the air. Either way family, if you live for Christ on Earth, like Curtis did, you will meet him again for this place is NOT our home. Let us continue to live each day prayerfully and thankfully until that Great Day of Jesus's return. May God's peace be with you all now and forever. My sincere sympathies.

Curtis joined our Fly Fishing club upon his arrival to Elmira last year. His energy and passion for our sport, life, and faith was contagious. He quickly became a leader in our club and everyone's friend.
Curtis and I connected and fished together often. He was learning fly tying and becoming a student in our sport. He was a breath of fresh air for me - and a realy encourager of my value and faith.
The entire chapter is stunned and in mourning of his passing. He was such a blessing to us. There are few in this world like Curtis.
Our prayers are lifted for all the family and friends of Curtis.
