Obituary of Donald Paul Brown

Donald Paul Brown, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, three weeks before his 82d birthday. Donald was the son of Alvyn and Dorothy Brown of Manhattan, New York, and is survived by his son, Saul, daughter-in-law Deborah, grandson Daniel, and brother Richard. His 1963 marriage to Arlene Pfeiffer ended in 1965.

A resident of South Fallsburg, New York, Donald, who was also known as Avadhut, was a longtime devotee of Siddha Yoga and practiced at the Siddha Yoga Shree Muktananda Ashram and the Siddha Yoga Meditation Center.

Earlier in his life Donald was an accomplished visual artist and ran a successful business importing traditional African fabrics. A graduate of Columbia University and the Hunter College Elementary School, Donald was raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He traveled to Africa for business and to India for spiritual fulfillment as a young man, ultimately settling in South Fallsburg to be close to the Shree Muktananda Ashram.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 3 to 5:00 pm at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, located at 396 NY-52, Woodbourne, NY 12788.

In lieu of flowers, attendees are encouraged to donate to the Siddha Yoga Meditation Center of South Fallsburg, or to a charity of their choice.
