Obituary of Walter Herzbrun

Walter Herzbrun, of Hurleyville, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018. He was 90. He was the son of the late Samuel Herzbrun and Gertrude Rosenberg, born on February 24, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY. Walter proudly served our country in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He worked as a building inspector for the City of New York until his retirement. He was a member of the Hurleyville Fire Department, Sullivan County Volunteer Fire Association, Hudson Valley Volunteer Fire Association as well as a life member of the Royal Order of the Moose. He was also a member of the Congregation Anschei Hurleyville, Jewish War Veterans, South Fallsburg Seniors and Avenue N Jewish Center in Brooklyn, NY. He is survived by his wife Ann whom he married on March 22, 1953; his sons Barry and his wife Lois of Hurleyville, Stuart and his wife Beth of Florida, and Leonard of New Jersey; his grandchildren Alyssa and Sydney; as well as several nieces and nephews. Donations in Walter's name can be made to the Hurleyville Fire Department or to the Congregation Anschei Shul. Services will be held on Monday, June 25th at 2:00pm at Congregation Anschei Shul, 200 Main St. Hurleyville, NY 12747. Rabbi Simcha Zajac will officiate. Burial will follow at the Congregation Anschei Cemetery, Hurleyville, NY.
