Obituary of Simmie Williams Jr.

Simmie Williams Jr; long time resident of South Fallsburg, NY entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was the son of the late Simmie Williams Sr. and Carrie Williams. Born June 6, 1930 in Ashland City, TN. He was 87. Simmie's mother moved from Ashland City with his sister to Uniontown, AL where he grew up. He attended and graduated from Perry County Training School. After graduating from High School he joined the United States Army. He was stationed in Salzburg, Germany. After he returned home he sought work out of the Alabama area. Simmie was always a progressive thinker and was not afraid to embrace change.
Simmie traveled to New York in search of work. He worked at various jobs in and around South Fallsburg.  Jobs like, Eddies Famous Foods and Fallsburg Bottling Works, owned by the Didinsky family. He eventually joined Local 445 Teamsters Union and worked for 25 years as a driver. In 1957, Simmie married Bertha L. Green, the love of his life. He strived to give his wife and family the best and instilled a sense of dignity and respect for themselves and others.To this union 5 children were born. 
He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Bertha G. Williams, his children Mary Williams Woodridge, NY, Sandra Y. McAuliffe (Joe), Monticello, NY, Betty Allen (Theodore), Indian Land, SC, Lesia C. Williams (Troy), S Fallsburg, NY, Simmie Williams III (Jennifer)  Woodburne, NY. In addition, Simmie is the father of Clarence Black (Gail) Uniontown, AL, Charles Black (Francis) Uniontown, AL. Sixteen grandchildren: Reginald, Tiffany, Ashley, Megan (Nick), Amanda, Tyler, Austin, Ryan, Clarence Jr., Morgan, Shane, Eli, Charles Jr, Frances and Franita.  Seven Great Grandchildren: DaKhari, Tylan, Donavan, Tyshawn, Monique, Nyasia, Mackenzie and a host of nieces, nephews and friends including Robert Felder. As well as one brother-in-law Donald Green (Janice) Uniontown, AL.
Three special and devoted friends: Samuel Patton, Basil Weathers, and Robert Nelson.  
He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Williams of Uniontown, AL.
Simmie was a member of the First Baptist Church and attended regularly until he became ill. He helped with the upkeep of the Church and grounds by plowing snow and mowing the grass whenever it was needed.

Memorial Contributions can be made in memory of Simmie Williams Jr., to the First Baptist Church of South Fallsburg or Orange Sullivan Hospice. 
Visitation will be held on Friday June 1, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturday June 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM, Service following at 12:00 Noon at The First Baptist Church 5258 Main Street So. Fallsburg NY. Burial will follow at Old Falls Cemetery, S. Fallsburg, NY.
