Obituary of Wilfred F Smith, Jr

Wilfred F. "Bill" Smith, Jr., of DeBruce passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Wilfred F. Smith, Sr. and Freda Vogt Smith; he was born in Liberty, NY. Bill worked as a mechanic for the New York City DEP. In his free time he was an avid outdoorsman, loved his garden, being on his tractor and snowmobiling. He was an honorary member of the Livingston Manor Hose Fire Co., member of Frog Hollow Hunting Club, honorary member of the DeBruce Fly Fishing Club and often called the "Mayor" of DeBruce. If you met Bill Smith, you had a friend for life. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, uncle, brother, in-law and friend. He was all of it and always there. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Smith; his daughter Connie Smith-Young and her husband Bill of DeBruce; his son Wilfred Smith III of DeBruce; three grandchildren: Leanne Stuhlmiller of Parksville, NY, Kendra Marie Lacey Smith and Wilfred "Billy" Smith IV of Downsville, NY; his two brothers: Robert Smith and his wife Gloria of Livingston Manor and Thomas Smith and his wife Ellen of Tulsa, OK; a brother-in-law: "The Real" Bob Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a large garden of friends. He is predeceased by his sister Mary Smith and his infant sister, Jane. A firematic service will take place at the funeral home at 12p. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 1pm at St. Aloysius Church, 22 Church St. Livingston Manor, NY 12758.
