Obituary of Grace-Janet Rae Bowers

Grace-Janet Rae "Skipper" Bowers, of Divine Corners, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Catskill Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. She was 85. She was born on June 23, 1932 in Huntington, Long Island to William Rae and Margaret McMuldroch. She worked as a teacher for Tri-Valley School District until she started her family and then returned until her retirement. In her free time she enjoyed drawing and being a musician, herself-being the former organist for over 25 years at the Hurleyville United Methodist Church. She was also an avid reader and spent much of her time outdoors in her garden. During her retirement, her and her husband enjoyed being snow birds traveling to Florida. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be deeply missed. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 61 years and the love of her life, William E. Bowers; her children Gary (Heidi), Debra (Joseph) and Dian (Dave); and her grandchildren Michael, Krysta, Meghan and Allyson. She is predeceased by her children William R. "Billy" and Leann Bowers; and her sisters Peggy and Jean. In lieu of flowers, donations in Grace's name can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Hurleyville United Methodist Church, 263 Main St. Hurleyville, NY 12747. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm on Monday, February 26th at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 27th at Hurleyville United Methodist Church, 263 Main St. Hurleyville, NY 12747. Pastor Jackie Carter will officiate.
