Obituary of Candy Misner

Candy Santiago Misner of Livingston Manor, NY and Culebra, Puerto Rico, sadly passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at home with her husband by her side. She was 59 years old. She was the daughter of the late William Santiago and Ann Marie Flores Santiago born on November 16, 1958 in Spanish Harlem in New York City. Candy grew up in New York City, but spent many years of her youth in St. Joseph's Catholic Home in Peekskill, NY, where she developed a second family of brothers and sisters which she kept in contact with throughout her life. To any and all who knew Candy, knew of her inner and outer beauty. Her big heart and generosity was endless. Her smile and laugh were contagious. Her greatest joy in life was being pregnant for all of her children. She was the most loving mother, nana, wife, sister, Titi and friend. Candy would do anything for her children whether it was matching Easter outfits or a road trip to Florida, Texas or Puerto Rico. She spent her whole life caring for others whether it was her job as a CAN or her distributing food from the pantry to people who were unable to go themselves. She had a special relationship with each one of her children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. Especially her twin brother Willie. There was no end to Candy's adventurous spirit whether it was fishing, camping, hunting, spelunking or photography. She loved nothing more than an ice-cold Corona, her herbal gardening and driving around. Candy is survived by the love of her life and husband Michael N. Misner; her children: Angel Quiles, Sylvia Park, Anna Misner, Michael Misner II, Erika Misner and Suzanne Misner; her grandchildren: Hailee, Gabriella, Joey, Michael III, Sean, Thomas, Mila, Angel, Whitney, Allie, Layla and Rae Lee; her siblings: Chicky, twin brother Willie, Janet, Milady, Jeanette, Melvin, Tony, Eugene, Gregory and Julio. She was predeceased by her "mommy" Gladys Ortiz and her brothers Eddie, Danny and Victor. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 11 to 1 and 3 to 5, at Colonial-Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12758. Visitation will also take place on Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 1 to 2pm at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place on Sunday at 2pm at the funeral home.
