Obituary of Francis J "Frank" Micewicz

Francis J. (Frank) Micewicz, of Thornwood, NY passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017. He was 90. He was the son of the late Witold Micewicz and Stella Sokolik, born on March 9, 1927 in Yonkers, NY. Frank proudly served our country in the US Navy from 1945-1946 (WW II veteran) aboard the U.S.S. Midway. He was a member of the Original Crew which Commissioned the U.S.S. Midway on September 10, 1945 and was privileged to be a Plank Owner in the Flight Deck in 2010. He then went on to work as a sheet metal worker for Local 38 and retired in 1991. In his free time he enjoyed going out to eat at restaurants, going for long car rides, going to country fairs, traveling-especially cruises. But above all else he loved his family, in particular the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Mary. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife Mary (Collarile); children Annmarie Constantino and her husband Anthony and John Micewicz and his wife Maria; grandchildren Jenna and Michael; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Leon; and his twin boys Francis and Nicholas. He was a resident of Yonkers, NY until 1999 then moved to Thornwood, NY. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 W. Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY 10532. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, October 3rd at St. Casimir's Church 239 Nepperhan Ave. Yonkers, NY.
