Obituary of Anneliese Diercksen
Anneliese Diercksen, of Livingston Manor, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Middletown Park Manor Rehab and Nursing Facility. Prior to being at the Park Manor, she had been living at the Promenade in Middletown. She was 91.
She was born on June 8, 1925, in Ritterhude, Germany, the daughter of the late Bernhard and Charlotte Blancke Wessels.
Anneliese came to America in 1954 and worked at Livingston Manor Central School as a library aide. She was trained as an expert tailor in Germany and continued to sew throughout her life. She enjoyed a number of crafts including crocheting, stenciling, and creating dried flower arrangements. She was active with the Sullivan County Conservation Club along with her husband Hans. She assisted in many fundraising activities for St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Liberty, NY. She was a devoted wife, caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew and loved her; she will be deeply missed.
She is predeceased by her devoted husband of 63 years, Hans Diercksen. She is survived by her son Pete and his wife Pat of Castleton, Vermont; her daughter Heidi and her husband Bill of Mahwah, New Jersey; her grandchildren Kyle (Anna), Anya (Eli), and Kurt (Ashley); great grandsons Kellen and Karter; her brother Hans and his wife Trudy of Venice, Florida; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Colonial-Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12758 from 6-8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 11:00 am. Rev. Johanna K. Andritz will officiate. Internment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Liberty Cemetery.
