Obituary of Francis Joseph Gallagher

Francis "Frank" J. Gallagher, of Woodridge, NY passed away on March 14, 2017 at home. He was 76. He was the son of the late Francis Gallagher and Dorothy Shaffer Gallagher, born on May 24, 1940 in Hempstead, NY. Frank proudly served our country for 10 years as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He later went on to work in the religious sector for many years. In his free time he was very active in his community as a lifetime member of the VFW Woodridge Mountaindale 6294, Amvet, American Legion as well as past County Commander of Sullivan County VFW and of the American Legion. He was a loving father, step-father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him, he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his children Ted, Mike and Debbie Gallagher; their mother Pam Gallagher; step-children Robert Koferl, Bucky Loucks, Lillian Magie, Debra Mann and Peter Alsdorf; siblings Dorothy and Donald Gallagher; as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his loving wife Rose Gallagher and brother Jerry Gallagher. A graveside service will be held at 12noon on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Lake Rd. Liberty, NY 12754.
