Obituary of Robert John Barton

Robert John Barton, of Rock Hill, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 64. He was the son of the late John R. Barton and Evelyn Exxton, born on February 19, 1952 in Monticello, NY. Robert proudly served our country in the US Marines Corps and was a past member of the Loch Sheldrake Fire Department. He worked for the Town of Fallsburg Water and Sewer Dept until his retirement. He was an avid outdoors-man and enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was fascinated by eagles. He was a family man who raised his children and helped whenever he could with his grandchildren. He was a true and proud American. He is survived by his children: Ronald Mapes (Trisha) of Monticello, Kristen Rosen (Jason) of Pennsylvania, John Barton (Kristy) of Middletown and Kelley Slater (Abi) of Rock Hill; his 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his loving wife Patricia Mapes-Barton. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 6 to 8pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home.
