Obituary of Derrick Yerkes Jr.
Derrick “Heavy D” Yerkes, of Neversink, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 with his best friend, Helios, by his side. He was 34.
He was the son of Howard M. Kehlenbeck Sr. and Rosalie Call, born on April 22, 1982 in Harris, NY.
Derrick enjoyed his free time, spending a lot of it outside fishing with his faithful dog Helios by his side. When he wasn’t outside fishing, you could often find him playing video games. But most of all he loved being an uncle, he frequently brought gifts at random just because he loved his nieces and nephews. Derrick was well known to have a big heart, someone who was easy to love. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
He is survived by his parents, Howard and Rosalie; his siblings, Dustin Kehlenbeck and his wife, Heather and Howard Kehlenbeck Jr. and his wife, Jen; his nieces and nephews: Josalyn, Taylor, Faith and Mikey; and his grandmothers, Elsie Call and Patsy Kehlenbeck; as well as a large extended family and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home. Pastor Mike Sparrow will officiate. Interment is to follow at Ulster Heights Cemetery.
