Obituary of John Horton

John Horton of Loch Sheldrake, NY passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on December 10, 2016. He was 74 years old. Son of the late Rita Winnie and Robert Horton. He was born on June 14, 1942 in Poughkeepsie, NY. John was a kind, loving soul who had the ability to bring a smile to anyone's face. He will be particularly remembered for his witty personality, bright smile, and his love for nature. John loved the winter season and Christmas holiday. When the seasons changed, John enjoyed creating artwork to represent the seasons and holidays. He was a loving son, brother, and uncle. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Rita and Robert. John is survived by his half-sisters, Rosemarie Williamson and her husband of West Virginia and Joan Sciortino of Albany, NY. John also leaves to cherish his extended family at New Hope Community. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 10 to 11am at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service will be held at 11am.
