Obituary of Sonia Placide

Sonia Rapahel Placide, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016. She was 83. She was the daughter of the late Jeune Raphael and Clara DeValcin, born on March 7, 1933 in Maissade, Haiti. Sonia worked as a seamstress during the time that she lived in Haiti and a homemaker up until her passing. She enjoyed reading the bible and taking care of her family. She especially enjoyed cooking for her children and grandchildren. She was known to be a person who loved her family deeply; she was a prayer warrior, who you would find in the middle of the night on her knees praying for someone. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children: Daniel Placide, Samuel Placide, Marie Junia Boutros, Anne- Elie Morisseau, Ruth- Elie Beauvoir, Benjamine Seraphin, Stephanie Placide and Ulrick Placide Jr.; 28 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Ulrick Placide Sr.; brothers; Supris Tellus, Moravia Raphael Minvil Raphael and Huss Raphael and her sisters; Amarante Jeune, Justine Desarme, Nee Raphael. Visitation will be held from 12pm on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Hebron French-Speaking Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1256 Dean St, Brooklyn, NY 11216. A funeral service will follow the visitation starting at 1pm at the Hebron SDA Church. A second service will take place on Monday, December 12th from 11am at Ellenville SDA Church, 161 Clinton Ave, Ellenville, NY 12428. Burial to follow at Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville, NY.
