Obituary of Randy Lee Sundstrom

Randy Lee Sundstrom of Walton and Livingston Manor passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013. He was 49. He was the son of the late Charles and Florence Vargo Sundstrom, born on August 8, 1963 in Liberty, NY. Randy proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1981-1983. He was a pumpkin farmer who was one of the founding members and past president of the New York State Giant Pumpkin Growers Association. In 2008 he placed 10th in the United States for having one of the largest pumpkin weighing in at 1,459 pounds. He was formerly a repairman for small engines and owned and operated Sundstrom Sales and Service. Randy loved to be outdoors. He is survived by his daughter, Melinda (Mindy) Sundstrom Lackey and her companion, Philip Bellows of Livingston Manor, NY and his sister, Caroline Sundstrom of PA. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 2nd at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearls Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12758 from 12 to 2 p.m. A funeral service will be on Saturday, March 2nd at 2 p.m. at the funeral home; Pastor Paul Sherri will officiate. Interment will follow at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. Donations in Randy's name can be made to the New York State Giant Pumpkin Growers Association.
