Obituary of Horace Joseph Marsden

Horace “Sonny” Joseph Marsden Jr., 79, of Parksville passed away at home on Saturday morning, July 30, 2016. He will be dearly missed. Sonny was born on August 27, 1936 in Hawley, PA, to Horace and Bertha Marsden. Sonny worked as a residential contractor and as a dairy farmer for many years. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. Sonny was a true outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, a bird watcher and enjoyed taking strolls through the woods to be at one with his environment. The most notable and admirable trait of Sonny was his caring nature and hospitality, he was a great friend to many and always enjoyed giving a helping hand. Sonny leaves behind his adoring wife, Isobelle, of 36 years; their two sons Brett of Livingston Manor and Andrew of Utica. His brother William of Pennsylvania; his two sisters Teresa Rauschmeier and her husband Neil of Pennsylvania and Ruther Curnow and her husband Harry of Pennsylvania. A cousin David Marsden of New Jersey, a good friend Mike Tallman of Pennsylvania along with many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Memorial contributions in Sonny’s name can be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan, 800 Stony Brook Court Newburgh NY 12550, or the Livingston Manor Ambulance Corps, 98 Main Street Livingston Manor NY 12758. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Colonial-Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street Livingston Manor NY 12758. A funeral service in Sonny’s honor will be held on Tuesday, August 2, at 11 AM at the funeral home. An interment at Lew Beach cemetery will follow.
