Obituary of David Silverman

David Silverman of Mongaup Valley passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016, after a long and successful life of 90 years. He was the son of the late Sam and Gladys Sobel Silverman, born on December 4, 1925 in New York City. David was a member of the Monticello Masons, the Monticello Elks Lodge and the Smallwood-Mongaup Valley Fire Company. He was a Plumbing and Heating Contractor who owned and operated Red Barn Plumbing and Heating which today is known as Silverman Mechanical operated by his son Steven. He was a member of the Local 373 Plumbers Union. Recently David got interested in investing and hydro farming. He loved spending time with his family, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all that knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife Florence of 68 years, four children: Joan Lieberman, Laurie Price, Stuart Silverman and Steven Silverman, 7 grandchildren, Sean Silverman, Allison Baumgarten, Alexandra Cooley, Samantha Lieberman, Mandi Bromberg, Haley Silverman and Kara Silverman and four great grandchildren, Sedona Bromberg, Bryce Bromberg, Ansleigh Silverman and Victoria Baumgarten, one brother Walter Silverman and one sister Yetta. He was predeceased by his brothers Sol and Murray Silverman. Memorial visitation will be held at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 12:00 – 1:00pm., on Saturday, July 16, 2016. A Firematic Service and Masonic service will be at the funeral home at 1:00pm followed by a funeral service with Rabbi Medwin. In lieu of flowers, contribution in his memory may be made to the Smallwood-Mongaup Valley Fire Company PO Box 28 Smallwood, NY 12778.
