Shirley Jersey, of Lady Lake, FL formerly of Livingston Manor, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at The Villages Nursing Center. She was 77.
She was the daughter of the late Gerald Simpson and Pearl VanLoan, born on April 29, 1938 in Liberty, NY.
Shirley worked as a taxi driver for her late husband’s taxi company, Larry’s Taxi, in Livingston Manor. She was very involved in her community as a member of both the Livingston Manor Ambulance Corps and the Livingston Manor Ladies Auxiliary. During her free time, Shirley enjoyed bowling. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, she will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
Shirley leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter Mary Lum and her husband Thomas; her son-in-law Dane Simpson; her grandchildren: Michele Garcia, Sherri Orfanides, and Gerald Lum; several great-grandchildren; her brother Gerald Simpson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Larry Jersey, her daughter Judy Simpson and her sister Virginia Simmons.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 10 to 11 am at Colonial-Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12758. A funeral service will follow at 11 am at the funeral home. Rev. Francis Waite will officiate. Interment to follow at Beaverkill Cemetery.
