GENEVIEVE PENINA BENTON February 20, 1925 - February 9, 2016 Livingston Manor, NY Genevieve Penina Benton, 92 years old, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the Roscoe Regional Rehab & RHCF in Roscoe, NY. She was born in Parkston, NY on February 20, 1925, the daughter of Marion Ernie Sprague and Claude Sprague. She married the love of her life, Donald Lewis Benton, on July 29, 1944, and enjoyed a happy life with him for 68 years. Genevieve is survived by her sons, Donald Thomas Benton and his wife, Susan, and Gary Lynn Benton and his wife, Angel; grandchildren: Jason, Jennifer, Brian, Brad and Tara; great-grandchildren: Julie, Kaitlyn, Emily, Madeline, Charlotte, Harper Genevieve, Jaden and Piper; and two great-great grandchildren: Natalie and Cadence; nieces and nephews: Teri, Tracey, Darlene, Cheryl, Dane and James and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Benton; her brothers, Thearn Sprague and Keith Buck; her sister, Evelyn Simpson; and her niece, Beverly Porter. She truly loved the company of her family and friends. Gen was an avid bowler who delighted in many years of bowling in leagues with her husband. She excelled at various hobbies that included knitting, sewing, making dolls and figurines and decorating her home at all holiday occasions. Happily, she had her sister, Evelyn Simpson, at her side for most of her life to share these simple pleasures. We will forever remember Nana as a loving, kind-hearted and generous person. At the core of her being was her willingness to satisfy any request a family member might have regardless of how silly, expensive or difficult it might be to make it come to fruition. Family members will no doubt recount and share individual instances where Nana’s love and efforts made their world a little brighter for many years to come.
