In the 1980's while I was in the Veritas Villa I had the honor and pleasure of hearing Dr Paul M D'amico speak to us every Wednesday . To me his conseling and words of encouragement and the reality of this dreadful disease was the highlight of my recovery . Through his words he touched my inner me helping me to regain my life and self dignity and helped me to accept the true fact of my addiction that I am and will always be powerless over the disease and to maintain my sanity and recovery I have to always remember that we can never control it it will always control us and to always keep it green and real with myself. we can't do it alone but we can do it together .

I’m so sorry to see this obituary. I want the family of Dr. D’amico that he instrumental in my family’s lives. In 1983 in Harris hospital he treated my mother who was deemed by all other people “hopeless”. She left the hospital and became a pioneer in 12 step programs. She ADORED Dr. D’Amico and held him in high regard as a nurse, a job she was able to return to after becoming clean. She helped countless people who were also “hopeless” because she was given a chance. She remained clean and sober until she died of natural causes 15 years later, surrounded by her children and family who were blessed to have those 15 years with her that she was living in borrowed time. We can’t thank you enough for loaning your family member to the recovery community. His soul and compassion he showed will continue to ripple effect for many years! Thank you!

My apologies for such a late posting. I no longer live in Sullivan County. I was doing some research for a current doctor, and found the obituary when I searched his name.
Dr. D'Amico delivered my first child, saw my husband when we didn't have a penny to pay, and twenty years later when I was staying in the Manor and said hello, he had a smile and a kind word. My sincerest condolences.

Dr. D'amico was instrumental in saving my life back in January of 1984. I was a hard core heroin addict from New York City. He was always kind, but firm and consistent. If it weren't for his strength and commitment, I probably couldn't have made it.

My condolences to the D'Amico family. Dr. D'Amico was a great, kind and caring man, doctor, father and husband. Dr. D'Amico was a good man. He was a real asset to the community. Dr. D'Amico and my father had an agreement in which firewood was traded for medical treatment for us children. He was a man before his time in holistic interventions. He was truly compassionate, and a Godsend for our family.
My deepest condolences for his loved ones.

Dr D'Amico came to our house many times after office hours to care for my sick father, Victor Diescher Sr., at home...He was a great help to my father and my mother..those home visits were made in all kinds of terrible winter weather...he was a gentle and compassionate doctor. After graduating from high school I worked for Dr. D'Amico for a year and he encouraged me to go to college which I then did, getting a degree in medical laboratory.

Dr. D.Amico was an inspiration. After a long talk at his home many years ago, I decided to get my degree at Palmer College of Chiropractic. I had a great career and also spent years treating drug and alcohol addictions in my practice. RIP Doc.
