Obituary of C. Ruth Eidel

C. Ruth Eidel of Woodbourne passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Sullivan County Adult Care Center. She was 98. She was the daughter of the late John A. and Cecilia Stangle Eidel, born on January 6, 1917. Ruth was the secretary to the superintendent at Woodbourne Correctional Facility for many years. She was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and a true matriarch of her family. Having no kids of her own she treated all of her nieces and nephew like her own she always made her home a warm and welcoming place for all to come and visit. She will be deeply missed. She was survived by her nieces and nephews, Joseph Eidel and his wife Debbie, John Eidel and his wife Maryann, John Woodward and his wife JoAnne, Jeffrey Woodward and his wife Pamela, James Woodward and his wife Rosemary, Jill Jones and her husband John, Michael Eidel and his wife Sherry and many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sibling Donald Eidel, Clarence “Sonny” Eidel and Mildred “Mid” Woodward and one niece Deborah Eidel. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 11:00am-1:00pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 6317 State Route 42 Woodbourne, NY with Father Lynch officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Woodbourne, NY.
