Obituary of Jaroslav Mazanek
Jaroslav Mazanek of Mountaindale, NY passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Kaplan Family Residence with his loving wife by his side. He was 85.
The late son of Jaroslav and Helena Strynclova Mazanek, Jaroslav was born on November 22, 1930 in Czechoslovakia and was also a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Liberty.
Jaroslav known to many as “Jarka” was a well-spoken educated man who spoke four languages fluently. Jarka enjoyed reading, and had a stamp collection which he accumulated as a result of his world travel. Jarka loved playing cards with his friends and also enjoyed the outdoors, going on hikes and chopping wood for both exercise and for keeping his family warm.
A Marketing Analyst for Liaz Auto Works in Czechoslovakia, he moved to NYC 1975 to continue his career in the transportation industry until he moved to Slovak Sky permanently in 1998. He was a kind man with a lot of love, he will be greatly missed and will live on in the hearts of all his family and friends.
Jarka is survived by his devoted wife Amalia Cobrda-Mazanek, his children Petr Mazanek and his wife Eva of Astoria, and Hana Mazanek of Czech Republic, his grandchildren Charlene, Peter and Allison and extended family in the Czech Republic. Jarka was predeceased by his two sisters Ilona and Jarmila.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 7, 2015 from 2-4:00pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church 105 Center Street, Ellenville, NY 12428 at 11:00am. Rev. Johanna Andritz will officiate.
