Obituary of Ella Mae Charter
Ella Mae Charter of Grahamsville, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at home with her great granddaughter Hope Marie Osnato-Corbett by her side. She was 88.
The daughter of the late Daniel and Beatrice Davis Akerley, born on November 7, 1927 in Grahamsville, NY.
Ella worked for over 30 years at Woolworth Department store in Liberty. She was a lifelong member of the Parksville United Methodist Church and Women VFW of Fallsburg. She liked reading and looked forward to her Monday morning outing and shopping. She was very family oriented and independent. Ella was the true matriarch of her family; she had a hand in raising each and every one of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Dukie Charter and his wife Sally of Liberty, Debbie Bryant of South Carolina, and Roberta Kehrley and her husband Robert Koferl of Woodridge, her grandchildren David Graham and his wife Shannon of Loch Sheldrake, Judith Graham and her husband John Baisley of Grahamsville and Julie Gaebel and her husband Scott of Jeffersonville, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, her siblings Vera Atkins, Thelma Dobell, John Akerley, and Audrey Curry and her son-in-law Donald Sprague.
She was predeceased by her husband Seymour "Duke" Charter, her daughter Gloria Mae Sprague, her son Daniel Charter, her sibling Floyd and Daniel Akerley and Minnie Stewart.
A memorial service will be on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Parksville United Methodist Church 12 Short Avenue Parksville, NY 12768, Rev. Fran Waite will officiate.
