Obituary of Frank Lawson Stratton

Frank Lawson Stratton June 10, 1939 – November 10, 2015 Frank Lawson Stratton, of South Fallsburg, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in Hackensack Medical Center in NJ. He was 76. The son of the late Melvin D. and Dorothy G. Stratton, he was born on June 10, 1939 in South Fallsburg, NY. Frank proudly served our country in the US Army from 1958 – 1960. In high school, Frank was a competitive athlete. He enjoyed his work with heavy equipment as an operating engineer Local #825, partnering with Bill Cohen installing swimming pools, after experience in the family business, Melvin D. Stratton Construction. Best known for owning and operating a Frank Stratton’s Service Center for 30 years, before his association with the NYS Gaming Commission at Monticello Raceway, first as an inspector and retiring as Paddock Judge and member of CSEA. He was very involved in his community, well known for his larger than life sense of humor and upstanding character and a huge promoter of Sullivan County. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge in Monticello, VFW 1575, Fallsburg Fire Dept. and Town of Fallsburg Architectural Review Board. In his free time he loved to read, landscape, travel and kibitz. To know him was to love him. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by his wife, children, relatives and friends. He is survived by his soul mate, wife and cheerleader of 26 years: Annette Stratton at home; his children: Danielle Martha Stratton of South Fallsburg, Christopher Arthur Stratton of Kingston and Mikel Lindsey Stratton of California; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his brothers: Arthur, Roger, Walter and Eugene. As per Frank’s wishes, there will be no services.
