Obituary of LeRoy Stewart

LEROY STEWART December 1, 1926 - October 13, 2015 Liberty, NY LeRoy Stewart of Liberty passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Sullivan County Adult Care Center. He was 88 years old. He was the son of the late Stanley and Edna Stewart; born in Brooklyn, NY on December 1, 1926. He proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1945 until 1946. He worked at Monticello Raceway for over 30 years with Local 17. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post. In his free time he was a gun collector who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend to all that knew and loved him, he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his loving children: LeRoy Stewart and his wife, Laura Stanton-Stewart of Neversink and Cheryl Mansfield of Monticello; his grandchildren: Mary Ann Gukelberger and her husband, Shawn, Nina Stewart, John Mansfield, LeRoy Stewart III, Jennifer Wright, Benjamin Stewart and 12 great-grandchildren; his brothers: Stanley and Dean Stewart and a host of friends. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Minnie A. Stewart Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 17th at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Carl Caskey will officiate. Interment will follow at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery.
