Obituary of Shannon F. Chiger

Shannon Fawn Chiger of Brooklyn passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, August 27, 2015. She was 38. She was born on December 15, 1976 in Monticelllo, NY. Shannon was a proud graduate of Monticello High School and the State University at New Paltz with a BS in Public Relations. She lived in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, a place she loved. Shannon was Vice President of Consumer Marketing and Senior Media Relations Supervisor at Edelman Public Relations Company in NYC, flying all over the country and world to do her job. Shannon was the most vibrant, friendly, good natured person that ever lived. She sparkled and brought happiness and joy everywhere she went. She had a very large circle of wonderful friends who adored her and stayed in the hospital, with her family, waiting for her to recover every one of the 13 days of her sudden illness that took this beautiful being from us. Shannon lived and embraced her life to the fullest. She enjoyed a life that was ended far too soon. She was so well loved. She was kind, she was beautiful, and she was funny with an infectious laugh. She was delightful; she was an angel who will be so terribly missed and who touched the lives of so many people who will never be the same without her. Shannon was the daughter of Richard and Jackie Chiger, sister of Arielle Chiger, adored aunt of Matthew and Elijah Gose, niece of Roni and Stewart Levin, Godchild of Ricki Abramson (Steve Gottleib) and "almost twin" of Rebecca Joyce. She is also survived by her Aunt Marcia and Uncle Jeff Joyce of Brooklyn, NY who were her second parents and their sons Joshua and Benjamin, cousins Linda Niedweske, Westfield, NJ, Steven and Ellen Levy, Woodridge, NY, Marvin and Roberta Cohen, Oradell, NJ, Great Aunt Miriam and her children, Palm Bay Florida, Great Aunt Cyril, Merritt Island, Florida, cousins Tzipi and Barry Prigat, Ramat Gan, Israel and their children, and numerous other cousins and very close friends. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Harriet and Eugene Sirota and paternal grandparents Sadie and Irving (Grandpa Chic) Chiger. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street Livingston Manor, NY 12758 from 11:00am-12:00pm. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 12:00pm with Rabbi Rebecca Shinder will officiate. Interment will follow at Agudas Achim Cemetery. Donations in Shannon's name can be made to a charity of ones' choice.
