Obituary of Virginia Simmons

Virginia L. Simmons of Livingston Manor passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Roscoe Regional Rehab & RHCF. She was 81. She was the daughter of the late Gerald and Pearl VanLoan Simpson, born on May 9, 1931 in Livingston Manor. Virginia worked in various hospitals for many years as a Unit Secretary and an O.R. Control. She was a life time member of the Livingston Manor Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and she was a former member of the VFW. Virginia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all that knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family. She leaves behind her children: Gene Simmons of Wyoming, David Brian Simmons and his wife, Kathy of Arizona, and Sharon Appenauer and her husband, Rudy of Livingston Manor; her grandchildren: Michael Appenauer and his wife, Rene, Gary Appenauer and his fiance, Kim, Andrew Appenauer, Anthony, Courtney and Gene Simmons Jr. and Carie Patterson and her husband, Chris; her great grandchildren: Kylie, Emma, and Amelia; her siblings, Shirley Jersey of Florida, and Gerald Simpson of Parksville. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest W. Simmons and one daughter, Wendy Adolph. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 30th at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl St., Livingston Manor, NY 12758 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. There will be a Funeral Service Tuesday evening, April 30th at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home; Rev. Bob Kersten will officiate. Burial will take place at the Beaverkill Cemetery on Thursday, May 2nd at 3:00 p.m. Donations in Virginia's name can be made to the Resident Council C/O Roscoe Regional Rehab & RHCF 420 Rockland Road, Roscoe NY 12776.
