Obituary of Gwendolyn Jean Rice

Gwendolyn Jean Rice of Ellenville passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 83. She was the daughter of the late Martin and Reava Crompton Taft born on September 24, 1931 in Equinunk, PA. For many years she worked at Grossinger's Hotel as a waitress and she belonged to Local 76. She will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Soberon and her husband, George of Miami, FL; her sister, Lenore Blum of Napanoch; her grandchildren: Jennifer Brozowski and Jaime Carbonell; great grandchildren: Briana, Noah, Sophie and Emma; two nephews: Stanley Blum of Napanoch and Stephen Blum of North Carolina. She was predeceased by her son, Edward Rice in 2009. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am. on Friday, December 5th at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788 A Funeral Service will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mike Sparrow officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Wild Cemetery.
