Obituary of Gregory Churak

Gregory George Churak of South Fallsburg passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Catskill Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was 66. Gregory was the son of the late George and Olga Semenkowich Churak, born on March 15, 1947 in Jamaica, NY. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He later began working for the Department of Corrections in Woodbourne as a correctional officer and was there for many years. He was a member of the Luna Organization, and a licensed ham radio operator. During his free time, Gregory enjoyed gardening, computers, communicating with fellow ham radio operators, and visiting friends and family. He was an avid animal lover and took care of many cats and the local wildlife. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister, Georgianna Churak; his two nieces: Tamara Churak and Tabitha Frunzi and her husband, Gary; one grandniece, Taylin Frunzi; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Churak, all of South Fallsburg, several cousins, and a host of friends. He will be missed by all of them. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Olga Churak; and by his brother, Theodore William Churak. Services were held at the convenience of the family. A Memorial Service in his honor and for the Interment of his Ashes, will be held at a later date.
