I had planned to attend Ruth's funeral but with the impending storm the trip from Connecticut seems unlikely. Ruth (and Charlie) were like family to me for the many weeks each of the many years we returned to the Catskills to deer and turkey hunt. Their hospitality was second to none. Ruth was like my mom away from home, always looking after us to make sure we had breakfast, lunch in our pails and dinner and a warm fire when we returned from the woods. A big smile and always those same words... "did you catch anything today"? In 1969 the year I shot the bear I could not wait to tell her of my success that day. The room over the garage always had the fire going and was warm when we arrived each Friday night, sometimes late, especially when the VW broke down on the Thompsonville Road and Pete had to come fetch us in a driving snow storm. I still have the thermos bottle with my name on it Ruth wrote with magic marker on a piece of masking tape to make certain she got each of our coffees just right. I look at it every once in a while and just smile... thank you dear Ruth and god bless you. Love Ron(ny) Miller
