Obituary of Arthur Weigand
Arthur J. Weigand of Woodbourne passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Catskill Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was 83.
He was the son of the late Frank and Mary Miller Weigand, born on July 9, 1927 in Woodbourne.
Arthur was a man of many traits.In1970 he built Indian Acres Campground in Woodbourne; and made that his passion. Indian Acres Campground was more than a place to have fun; it was a place where memories were made. It was a place that families would continuously come back to visit because it was a home away from home. Throughout his entire life he worked two jobs, one being at the campground and the other being a foreman at VAW Aluminum in Ellenville, NY where he retired after 33 years. To many he was a friend that they could confide in, but to others he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Arthur was full of stories and infinite wisdom that will never be forgotten. He will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 54 years Elizabeth Betty Weigand whom he married on March 9, 1956, his children Kathy Rogers and her husband Dave of Yonkers, John Weigand and his wife Laura, and Kevin Weigand and his wife Candy all of Woodbourne, grandchildren Tonya Ramos, Amy Whidbee, John Michael Williams, Terilyn Ulatoski, Jared Behan, Lisa Weigand, Leah Behan, Kyla Weigand, Harlen Weigand, Shannon Parlapiano, and Shane Weigand, 9 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
