Obituary of Olympia Martin
Olympia Martin of Grahamsville passed away at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta, NY on February 1, 2011, with her family by her side. She was 68.
Borne to Marie (Bobetsky) and John Fedynak in Manhattan on February 26, 1942. Olympia's early years were spent in Manhattan where she learned how to grow plants at the New York Horticultural Society Gardens, swim at Lenox Hill House and dance in a Ukrainian Dance Group.
After moving to Valley Stream she attended Valley Stream South High School Olympia trained as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Steven H. Klafter for almost 30 years a career from which she recently retired.
Olympia met her husband Charles Martin Jr. of Valley Stream, NY in 1965. They married in 1966 and moved to Grahamsville, NY where her husband was assigned to Troop F of the New York State Troopers. Olympia was a generous, enthusiastic homemaker who had the patience and fortitude to raise four energetic sons.
Her warm brown eyes and smile will be greatly missed by her friends, neighbors and more than ever by her family.
The herd of deer, squirrels, chipmunks, hummingbirds and other wildlife will miss her gifts she left for them every day.
She is survived by her loving husband Charles Martin Jr. sons Charles III of Sacramento, CA., John Christopher and Michael Martin of the Grahamsville area, daughter-in-law Kim Martin, grandchildren Randi, Amanda, Samantha, and Michael Martin, her brother Raymond, his wife Jacqueline, Niece Stephanie and nephew Kevin of Long Island. She was predeceased by one daughter-in-law Chrissy Martin.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 4,2011 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 10:00am at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Route 42 Woodbourne, NY.
Memorial donations in Olympia's name may be made to The Make a Wish Foundation Hudson Valley Chapter or The Church of the Immaculate Conception.
