Obituary of John Hoag
John Harvey ?Jack? Hoag of Florida, formerly of Livingston Manor, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2011 in Alabama. He was 78.
He was the son of the late Arthur K. and Lorna Knickabocker Hoag, born on October 5, 1932 in Hamden, NY.
He proudly served our country in the United States Navy as a Senior Chief Radioman in the Submarine Service and retired on August 3, 1971. For twenty years he was the director of Security at the Monticello Raceway. He was an active member of the community and was involved in many different clubs such as the Regan Ridge Hunting Club, past president of the Neversink Beagle Club, and Honorary member of the Manor Hose Fire Department. Jack was an avid hunter, and fisherman. In his free time he raised Beagles and enjoyed doing word puzzles. For the past nine years Jack relocated to Pensacola, Fl. to enjoy the warm weather.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather that will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving children Pamela Knapp and her husband Howard, Kevin Hoag and his Companion Debra Serrano, Keith Hoag and his companion Georgia Warshaw, grandchildren Julie and Jeffrey Knapp, Danielle and Jessica Hoag , great grandson Deric Young Jr., brother David Hoag and his wife Joyce, sister Mary Lee Hoag-Lerich, companion Agnes Gonzales, his ex-wife and long time friend Harriette Sarles Hoag whom he was married to for 42 years, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was predeceased by one son William Jeffrey Hoag.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 4, 2011 at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12758 at TIME. Rev. Robert Hoag will officiate Interment will follow at Orchard Street Cemetery, Livingston Manor, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Manor Hose Company #1, Livingston Manor, NY.
