Obituary of Norma Torrens

Norma Jean Torrens of Monticello formerly of Liberty NY died Tuesday June 28, 2011, at Ostego Manor Nursing Home after a short brave battle with cancer. She was 63. She was born on July 10, 1947 in Glasco Kentucky, the daughter of Hal P. Tipton of Kirksville, MO. and the Late Leva Mae Heiser-Winters. Predeceased by her husband Gary M Torrens of which married for 24 yrs. She Retired from The Times Herald Record as District Manager of circulation, and enjoyed selling and managing her Avon business. Norma (Jean) was a kind generous and honest woman; with a zest for life, family and friends. She loved being with her family, traveling, reading and playing on her computer. Survivors include her daughter Terry Cluff and husband Wayne, of Portland OR; Son's James Torrens and companion Jodi Curry of Swan Lake NY; Steve Torrens and companion Kristy Haff of Bradly NY; Gregory Torrens of Wickenburg AZ; Sister Patricia Wendler and husband Bruce of Liberty NY.; brother's Daniel Tipton and wife of Texas; David Tipton and wife Annette of IL. Her beloved grandchildren, Carin Burrie, Justin Dexheimer, Chelsea Fuller, Emily and Walker Cluff. Jessey and Tracy Torrens, Cory Maloney Brianna Torrens and great granddaughter Carissa Burrie. Visitation will be at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne NY from 11-1pm on Saturday, July 2, 2011. A funeral services will be at 1pm on Saturday July 2, 2011 at the funeral home; interment following a Laurel Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs NY. Memorial contributions in Norma's name can be made to the American Lung Cancer Society.
