Our beloved Robert Edward Scott departed us on August 16, 2011 at home with his family at his side. He was 81 years old.
Robert was born on June 8, 1930 to Edward and Florence Scott in Newark, NJ. He attended Morristown High School in which he graduated in 1948. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Army. He served during the Cold War in Germany from 1948 to 1952. During his enlistment he served as a Tank Sergeant in the 2nd Armored Calvary Division and also served in the elite US Constabulary Unit. Robert married his high school sweetheart Ann Clemente Scott. He ran a successful Land Surveying business for 16 years in Toms River, NJ. In 1977 he and his family moved to Parksville, NY to pursue his dream of building and running a campground. They established Hunter Lake Campground, which they have successfully run for the past 30 years. Robert loved flying, fishing, skiing, baseball and hockey.
Robert is survived by his wife Ann Clemente Scott of Parksville, NY, his sisters Lois Bell of Seaford , DE and Shirley Booth of Whiting, NJ, his children Jeff and Corrine Scott of Encinitas, CA, Brenda and Ralph Downs of Parksville, NY, Brian Scott of Jeffersonville, NY, Wayne and Ellen Scott of Parksville, NY, Keith and Noreen Scott of Parksville, NY; his grandchildren Marissa and Chad Burgio of Liberty, NY, Robert Scott of Encinitas, CA, Chiara and Paul VanValkenburg of Grahamsville, NY, Ralph and Nicole Downs of Parksville, NY, Michael Scott of Encinitas, CA, Garret Scott of Encinitas, CA, Kirsten Scott of Parksville, NY, Aaron Scott of Parksville, NY, Nicholas Scott of Jeffersonville, NY, Collin Scott of Encinitas, CA, Samantha Scott of Parksville, NY, Christopher Scott of Jeffersonville, NY, Gregory Scott of Parksville, NY, Brittany Scott of Jeffersonville, NY; and his great grandchildren Carmela and Luca Burgio of Liberty, NY. He was predeceased by his son Randy Scott.
Services will be held at Bryant Funeral Home in Livingston Manor, NY on Friday, August 18th from 7pm to 9pm and on Saturday, August 18th from 11am to 1pm. A celebration of his life will follow services on Saturday at Hunter Lake Campground.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Sullivan/Orange Hospice. For all who knew and loved him, we hope you will recall his closing words, "Thanks for coming."
