Obituary of Richard Pelland

Richard Pelland of Glen Spey passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 67. Richard was the son of the late Joseph and Irene Remy Pelland born on August 14, 1944 in Rhode Island. Richard lived at Haring Road with his longtime friend Julia. They were always together at the house, at their workshop, or out in the community. He was very young hearted; and loved to watch Rambo movies, and write in his note books. He enjoyed going out into the community to shop, eat, go to the movies and more. Richard was very helpful; he was always helping the staff and his peers around the house and he liked to tell the staff when they needed to go shopping for supplies. Richard liked to play jokes and kid around with the staff and the residence. He was the houses very own food critic; he would often help cook and was eager to tell staff and residents exactly what he thought of the meal. If it was good he'd give thumbs up, or thumbs down if it didn't meet his standards. Richard had no family but everyone that came into contact with him became a part of his family. His personality was so full of life that no matter what was going on around you, you had to smile. Richard will be missed but never forgotten. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 9:30-10:30am. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at the church of the Immaculate Conception, State Route 42 Woodbourne, NY 12788 at 11:00am Father Lynch will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Woodbourne, NY.
