Obituary of Saul Schwartz
Saul Schwartz of Goshen formerly of Livingston Manor, NY passed away on Sunday September 25, 2011 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 82.
He was the son of that late Arthur and Ida Boland Schwartz, born on June 1, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY.
Saul had many interests over the years, from flying his plane over the eastern seaboard to model building. He enjoyed painting portraits and was a member of the Yacht Club where he was the Commodore, the Moose Club and the Elks Club. Saul was a former Judge in the Town of Rockland for ten years before retiring in 1990.
His is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years Christine Schwartz. They were high school sweethearts. They lived and loved together for fifty-nine and a half years. And now, the love of her life, a soul mate if there ever was one, is gone. Saul Schwartz, a man who filled the lives of those who loved him with joy, laughter, and a beautiful sense of family, has departed this earthly world for the far reaches of eternal peace. His wife, Christine, is left to carry on the spirit of Saul's good will. Although her heart is broken, the memories of a rich, loving companionship and a family that will always cherish the strength and goodness of her husband will provide comfort and consolation as she struggles through her loss.
He is also survived by his loving children Randy Maduras and her husband Marlin, Mitchell Schwartz and his wife Linda, Guy Schwartz and his wife Terry, grandchildren Asha, Jordin, Michael, Josh, Ben, Ted, Aaron, Jarrid, Eric, Kristin, and Jena, great grandchildren: Alexa, Nicole, Ryan, Terrence, Treyvon, Tayler, Aubre, Everett, Parker, Zackary, and Ethan, and many nieces and nephews. Saul battled until the end, surviving where many would have surrendered. Finally, even his strength of will and character were overcome by that which will call us all. His family is forever proud and honored to have known, loved and be loved by him. His legacy is powerful. The family will endure with the power of love, hope, and humor that he helped to cultivate. For all of the beauty that was Saul Schwartz, perhaps the greatest and most everlasting of his charms was his sense of humor. He made us all laugh. That is a beautiful thing and a fitting reminder of our Solly Dolly. So, while there will be tears and pain, they will eventually be replaced with smiles and laughter. And that is the ultimate monument to a man who touched so many and always left them smiling. We love you always.
