Obituary of Demetra Barnes
Demetra Barnes Moody of Ellenville passed away on Friday, October 7, 1956 at Westchester Medical Center. She was 54.
She was born on October 24, 1956, in Mount Vernon, NY.
She was an active member of the New Testament Church of Jesus Christ in Ellenville. She was in a music ministry and truly enjoyed playing the Congo drums. In 1997 she produced a Gospel Power Aerobics workout video. Demetra was an active member of the community and a community activity coordinator. She was the secretary for the NAACP, and was very creative; especially with sewing and decorating. She had a vivacious personality and her natural glow could light up the room. She was a loving mother and devoted wife who had a magnetic spirit that will sadly be missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband Claude S. Moody, and two daughters Savannah, and Shana Shaw.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 14, 2011 from 5-6pm at the New testament Church of Jesus 39 Clinton Avenue, Ellenville, NY 12428. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm at the church Apostle Raymond E Younger will officiate.
