Obituary of Clarence Eidel
Clarence J. "Sonny" Eidel of Woodbourne passed away on Monday, October 24, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. He was 81.
He was the son of the late John A. and Cecilia Stangle Eidel, born on August 30, 1930 in Woodbourne, NY.
Sonny proudly served our country in the United State Air Force from 1951-1955 and later became a Correctional Officer for many years before retiring in 1989. He was an active member of his community for many years. Sonny was a lifetime member of the Woodbourne Fire Department, member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Woodbourne and member of the Woodbourne Hunting Club. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all that knew and loved him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving children Joseph Eidel and his wife Debbie of Binghamton, John Eidel and his wife Marianne of Neversink, granddaughter Dena Eidel, sisters Ruth Eidel of Woodbourne, Mildred "Mid" Woodward of Poughkeepsie, sister in law Lillian Bauernfeind of Hortonville and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Theresa Eidel, and his brother Donald Eidel.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 2-4:00pm & 7-9:00pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A firematic service will be at 7:30pm on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Church of the Immaculate Conception, State Route 42 Woodbourne, NY at 10:00am; interment will follow at Hillside cemetery, Woodbourne, NY 12788.
Donations in Sonny's name can be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
