Obituary of George Kwoka

George Kwoka Sr. of Mountaindale passed away on November 11, 2011 at Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility. He was 85. He was the son of the late John and Anna Kluka Kwoka, born on May 27, 1926 in New York City, NY. George was a printer by trade for Harding & Heal in NYC. He was a gifted craftsman who could always be found working on a building project. After his retirement from Harding & Heal in 1991 he relocated and made Mountaindale his home with his wife Sophie. George and Sophie ran G&S Bungalows in Mountaindale until 1976. He was an active member of All Saints Russian Orthodox Church for many years. He proudly served our Country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a veteran who passed away on Veteran's Day. He will be greatly missed by all of his family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife Sophie Kwoka at home, his children George Kwoka Jr. and his wife Helene of Mountaindale, and Dr. Suzanne Lewis and her husband Stephen of Greenwich, Ct., 10 grandchildren: Adam, Andrew, Christopher, Courtney, Gregory, Kristen, Matthew, Michael, Nicole, and Stephen, one great grandson Jacob, one sister Lillian Kite of Tunkhannock, PA., and three nephews Alexander, Frank, and Paul. He was predeceased by one son John Kwoka in 2008 and one brother Frank Kwoka in 1996. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from 4-7pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788; Panakayda will be at 7:00pm on Tuesday evening. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at All Saints Russian Orthodox Church, 287 Jansen Road, Pine Bush, NY, at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville, NY.
