Obituary of Jose Navarro

Jose Luis Navarro "Papa" 37 Jose Navarro of Hurleyville, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 26th after spending a week as a patient at Albany Medical Center. While there he received the highest quality medical care from the hospital staff who worked tirelessly to help him. He was 37. Jose was born on March 24th, 1974 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He moved to the Bronx, NY with his family as a young boy. Jose attended Adlai E. Stevenson High School where he sparked an interest in pre-law studies. He then attended Plattsburgh State University. Although unable to realize it, Jose never gave up his dream of becoming an attorney. He took a special interest in helping anyone in need, particularly those who were down-trodden. Jose lived in Plattsburgh, New York for many years. While there he worked managing the kitchens of several local restaurants as he continued his studies. He was a gifted chef. At the time of his death Jose was employed by the USDA as a Federal Food Safety Inspector. He was stationed at a slaughter facility located in South Fallsburg, New York for the past five years. He excelled in his challenging assignment. Jose was much loved by all who knew him. He was known as a man of great character, able to overcome any obstacle life presented him. He believed strongly in living for the moment. Jose is survived by his beloved wife Nicole Byrne Navarro and their two children Che Alexander (5) and Analuz Isabel (2) to whom he was a doting father. He is also survived by his mother Maria Martinez and her husband William Casiano of Puerto Rico and the Bronx, NY. He is pre-deceased by his father Octavio Navarro who died in 1992. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Isabel Martinez of Puerto Rico. Jose was a most dedicated older brother to his siblings Maria, Johanna, and David Navarro. He is also survived by his mother and father in-law Michael and Ann Byrne of Morrisville, NY. His sister in-laws Jennifer Harp and her husband Will, and Tracy Fox and her husband Bill. He was a loving Uncle to his nieces and nephews Christian "C.J.", Kelsey, Steven, Nicholas, Kristalee, Emily, and Henry. He also had many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Services for Jose will take place at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 on Wednesday, November 30th, 2011. Calling hours are from 2-5 pm, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home. Rev. Sue Woodworth will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the ICU Department at Albany Medical Center, 47 New Scotland Avenue Albany, NY 12208.
