Obituary of Matthew Bertholf
Matthew R. Bertholf of Grahamsville, an employee for NYC Department of Water passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at home. He was 30.
He was the son of Gene P. and Deborah Hartman Bertholf, born on February 21, 1981 in Port Jervis, NY.
Matthew graduated from Tri-Valley High School in 1999, and later graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2003. He enjoyed being outdoors and all different activities such as hunting, fishing, golfing, snowmobiling and Sapping maple syrup. He was always the type of person that was ready to lend a helping hand. He was a former employee of Mike and Lori Mickelson of M & L Masonry for over ten years. He was a loving son, brother, fiancee and friend to all that knew and loved him, he will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his loving parents Gene and Deborah Bertholf of Loch Sheldrake one brother Trevor Bertholf and his companion Kalyn Kosowicz of Loch Sheldrake, his fiancee Elizabeth Sopchak of Grahamsville, his future mother and father-in-laws John and Carol Sopchak of Syracuse, NY, and future brother and sister-in-laws- Eric and Kim Sopchak of Syracuse, NY, and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his grandparents Raymond and Hazel Bertholf and Bernard and Helen Hartman, and two uncles Bernard and Bob Hartman.
Visitation will be on Today, December 30, 2011 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 68 Clinton Street, Napanoch, NY 12458 on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Woodbourne, NY 12788.
