I remember meeting Zaida at 14 years old when her sister Bergman invited me to their home. Zaida looked at me, with my 80's punk rock/new age garb I considered fashion those days and her saying to me, "Hi, loquita what is this you are wearing?" and smiling and giving me a hug hello. I laughed so hard and felt like part of the family. From that moment on, i was affectionally called "loquita" and i did not mind one bit.
Her obituary is beautiful just like her. What a beautiful legacy she leaves behind, working to help others. She touched so many people with her infectious love, smiles and laughter! Your mother raised a beautiful, loving, patient, welcoming, non judgemental human being. I will always remember you smiling, always.
May God bless you always. Thank you for making me feel so comfortable and welcomed regardless of my looks back then.
