Obituary of William Crowley
William G. Crowley, 71, of Kerhonkson, New York died suddenly on March 28th, 2019. Bill was born in Hartford, Connecticut on September 28th, 1947 to Mary and William Crowley. He grew up on Long Island and graduated from Sanford H. Calhoun High School in Merrick, and attended Fordham University in the Bronx, majoring in Communications.
He worked in many different aspects of broadcasting, both radio and television, as a disc jockey, radio news anchor, sports writer, television news writer among others. Most recently he was employed as a news writer for CBS This Morning. .
Bill met Joan on Long Island, in 1976. They married in 1983 and moved to Ulster County in 1986, where their three children were born. He loved to read, watch movies and musicals, write poetry, short stories and novels. He enjoyed helping others however he could, even simply in the form of a hand to hold or a shoulder to lean on. He is remembered by everyone who knew him, loved him, or found a friend in him. He was a very kind, extremely generous and wise person.
Bill is survived by his wife Joan, their children Rowan, Duncan and Rhiannon, as well as Bill’s brother James. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kieran. He will also be remembered by Joan’s father Jack Arnold, and brother Matthew Arnold, as well as sister-in-law Riki Nemser, and niece Ariel Crowley.
There will be a memorial and celebration of his Bill’s life on Saturday, May 25th, 2019 at 5:00 pm at his home in Kerhonkson, New York.
