Raymond Hummel

Obituary of Raymond Hummel

The doors of Heaven opened today to welcome Ray Home. Ray was born on September 8, 1942 in Fallsburg to Lester and Martha Hummel. He grew up in Fallsburg and was a graduate of Fallsburg Central High School. Ray married his high school sweetheart Carolyn Price who were together for 56 year and raised their two children Michael and Jamie. Ray was truly a family man, family always came first. It just seems appropriate that Ray would choose his favorite season of the year to go home. He was an avid hunter and sportsman, enjoying every wonder of nature. Ray also enjoyed owning and entering his collection of antique Mustangs in numerous local car shows, collecting a large array of trophies. Ray was a member of Local 17, the Sheep Hill Rod and Gun Club, Turkey Ridge Hunting club, a former member of the Hurleyville Fire Department and a member of the Hurleyville Methodist Church. Ray leaves behind his beloved wife Carolyn and his two very special children: his son Michael and his daughter Jamie. Two cherished grandsons; Gavin Gandulla and his father Mark and Brandon Hummel and his mother Ellen, and one precious great grandson Nathan. His brother in law George Price (Olga), his sisters in law, Ruth Forest (Dick) and Vicki Gold (Mike), his brother in law Russel Turner, several nieces, nephews, cousins and one very special aunt, Virgina DeGraw. Ray was predeceased by his parents Lester and Martha Hummel, his sister Linda Hummel Turner, his brother Lester Hummel, nephew Shawn Hummel and niece Laurie Forest. Ray; God Speed to you on your final journey on the highway to Heaven in your hot little Mustang. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Rays name to the ASPCA of 104 Rock Hill Drive, Rock Hill NY 12775.
