Obituary of John O. Harrop

John O. Harrop, of Grahamsville, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 65. Son of the late John Harrop and Catherine Dell born on December 23, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY. He worked as a telemarketer for AT & T in Long Island. He was a member of the Tri-Valley Lions Club since 2004. An avid Mets fan who favored Jacob DeGrom and a collector of Radios. He spent his time listening to the weather channel and was truly fascinated with anything to do with the weather. He loved his guide dogs. He had a great sense of humor which is evident in his personal catchphrase of "Deal with it!". He is survived by his wife Maryann Harrop. His sister-in-law Elaine Harrop of Farmingdale, NY. His brother-in-law Jack Ponzo of Medford, NY. From his wife's side brothers-in-law Ernest Harth Jr. of Florida and Paula (Mike) Ryan of Neversink, sisters-in-law: Deborah (Joe) Costa of Woodbourne and Monica (Leslie) Smith of Woodbourne and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends. He is predeceased by his brother Robert Harrop and Sister Diane Ponzo and his past guide dogs; Shadow, York, Barry and Addie. Visitation will be Friday, August 24th from 3-6 pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 6:00pm on Friday, August 24th at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a donation in John's name can be sent to Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, Inc. 371 East Jericho Turnpike, Smithtown, NY 11787-2976.
