Obituary of Dudley Francis Van Nostrand

Dudley Francis Van Nostrand Jr, "Dancing Hawk" of Monguap Valley, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018. He was 73.

The son of the late Dudley Francis Van Nostrand Sr. and Alverta Gillespie, born on February 10, 1945 in Floral Park, NY.

He proudly served his country in the US Army spending time in Germany. He worked as a deputy for the Sullivan County Sheriff Department until he retired. He spent his time boating, hunting and ice fishing. He loved being on the water. He was proud of his Native American Heritage.

He is survived by his children: Kelly Friedman (Robert), Dudley Van Nostrand (Joannie), Ellie VanGordon (Brian); his step-children: Cheryl Johnson (Ron), Robin Kimmons and Lorna Korth (Gary); his grandchildren Brianna, Michelle, Ashley, Madison and his wife's grandchildren along with many more who were loved by him.

He is predeceased by his wife Gloria Van Nostrand.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 24th from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788. Funeral Service will be on August 24th at 12:00pm at the funeral home. Burial to follow at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty, NY will full military honors.
