Obituary of Gloria Wilks

Gloria Jean Wilks, resident of Monticello, NY, born February 26, 1953 in Mobile, AL, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center. Daughter of Cleveland West and Ruby Lee West, she was brought to Monticello at the age of 14 by her grandmother Reba West. Here she attended Monticello High School and met her soul mate Jesse Wilks whom she later married on January 14, 1972. A loving sister of Little Grove Holiness Church located in Woodridge, NY under Pastor Bishop Thomas E. Ward. Later to become a caring and loving Health Technician for well over 15 years. Gloria will truly be remembered as the angel given to us on Earth, always giving her all and last to anyone in need without prejudice, and hesitation known to all as Momma Wilks, she would pop you if needed then comfort and feed you 5 minutes later. Gloria was a woman of great strength, endurance, compassion, faith, grace, wisdom and love. Predeceased by her father Cleveland Sanders; mother Ruby Lee West; grandmother Reba West; and husband Jesse Wilks. Survivors remaining include: sons Jesse Wilks, Jr, James Wilks and Derek Rodgers; daughters Keyshe Wilks, Katina Valley, Wendy Riley and her dearest baby Tamika Wilks-Alli; all of her beautiful, loving grandchildren: Sadashia Wilks, Jesse Wilks III, D'zyre Wilks, Quanashia Wilks, Delijah Hadley, Damani and Diamante Wilks, Aaliyah Alli, Kamaya Santos, Patience Hudson, Serenity and Auianna Wilks, Jaliyah Wilks Idesha Ramkimsoon and Tatyana White; also her loving brother Cleveland West Jr; and sisters Brenda, Linda, Alice and Sarah Atherly; and she was mother-in-law to Jackie Sanchez and James Thomlison of Monticello. Services will be held from 10am to 12pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Kings Chapel, 15 Spring St., Monticello, NY 12701. A funeral service will be held at 12pm at Kings Chapel. Burial will follow at Rock Ridge Cemetery, Monticello, NY.
