Obituary of Mary Esther Gibson

Mary Esther Gibson, of Liberty, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 76. She was the daughter of the late John LaPolt Sr. and Adelia Neff, born on September 23, 1941 in Liberty, NY. Mary loved taking care of her family, she made a life of it devoting herself to being a homemaker. She was known to be very organized, everything had a place. In her free time she loved crafting, especially knitting, sewing, crocheting and cooking; she also enjoyed camping and collecting stones from her travels. But above all else she loved her family and especially loved being a grandma and great-grandma. She was a great mother who knew how to care for her family well and truly showed her love for all her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her, she will be deeply missed. She is survived by her devoted husband Frank E. Gibson, Sr.; her children Edward, Frank Jr. (Tammy) and James (Patricia) Gibson and Mary (Andy) Colletti; her grandchildren Misty Mentnech, Kira Wolcott, Sara Smith and Peter Mentnech; great-grandchildren Adrian Minacs, Kaylee Mentnech, Hailey and Cassie Wolcott and Jack Smith; siblings Florence Goldfarb (Herman), Charles LaPolt (Diane) and William C. LaPolt; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother John L. LaPolt Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name can be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 3 to 6pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788.
