Obituary of John Carl Peters

John “Jack” Carl Peters, 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at home with his family by his side. Jack was born on January 31, 1942 to Carl Edward and Anna Marie Peters in Englewood, NJ.

Jack earned his Federal Airframe and Powerplant licenses  from The Academy of Aeronautics, and served his nation for six years as a mechanic in the Air National Guard at Floyd Bennett Airfield.  He was an airplane mechanic for TWA for thirty years, where he worked at all three major New York and New Jersey  airports. Jack married the love of his life Frances Lednar Peters on August 28, 1982. His hobbies included: skeet shooting, motorcycling, kayaking, and NASCAR. Jack was an excellent marksman who enjoyed sharing his knowledge of firearms and ballistics with his many friends, at the Wawarsing Rod & Gun Club where he spent many happy hours.  

Jack leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Frances Peters, as well as his daughter Christine Peters- Kisslinger and her husband Brad of Poughkeepsie, NY, and his step-son Mark Yackanich and his wife Nataly of Hoboken, NJ. Jack leaves behind four grandchildren: Nicole and Ashley Kisslinger,  and Hana and Kira Yackanich. He also leaves behind his sister Margie Tosi, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by a sister, Joan Keena.
 

Jack’s family would like to acknowledge the fine care he received from his aides and the staff from Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties.

Visitation will be held at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne NY 12788, on Saturday, October 28th from 1 to 3pm. A funeral service will follow the visitation, Rev. Walter Haff will be officiating. Burial at the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery will follow the funeral service.
